Office of Head Start 
-OHS manages grant funding and oversees local agencies providing Head Start services. Head Start promotes school readiness of children under 5 from low-income families through education, health, social and other services.

Region IV Head Start Association

For 30 years ago, the Region IV Head Start Association (RIVHSA) has been dedicated to improving the quality of early care and learning services for Head Start/Early Head Start children and their families. Over the years, RIVHSA has grown significantly while remaining focused on our vision to make a difference in Region IV by leveraging your collective voice, engaging partners across sectors, and supporting professional development.  Today, RIVHSA represents more than 150,000 children, 30,000 staff and 250 member programs.  RIVHSA is a regional affiliate of the National Head Start Association (NHSA) and its regional network includes a growing alliance of corporate partners and individual members, as well as 8 state affiliates: Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.

-Our emphasis is on family literacy for a simple reason - study after study shows that family, home, and community are the true drivers of a child's education. Consider these truths:

  • Children's reading scores improve dramatically when their parents are involved in helping them learn to read.
  • Low family income and a mother's lack of education are the two biggest risk factors that hamper a child's early learning and development.
National Program for Playground Safety
-Since 1995, the National Program for Playground Safety (NPPS) has been the leader in research, training, and development of S.A.F.E. play areas in the nation! The National Program for Playground Safety seeks to empower communities to create safe, inclusive, and high quality play areas for children. We do this through research-based advocacy and training.

Conscious Discipline 
Conscious Discipline is a whole-school solution for social-emotional learning, discipline and self-regulation.

Zero to Three
Zero to Three  works to ensure that babies and toddlers benefit from the early connections that are critical to their well-being and development.

Healthy Children​

The American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) promotes pediatrics and advances child health priorities in a variety of ways including developing policy, conducting research, lobbying Congress, building coalitions, raising public awareness, funding community-based projects, and supporting training and professional education. Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute 

The Frank Porter Graham Child Development Institute (FPG) was founded in 1966 by a small group of scientists who had a vision—to conduct research that would make a difference in children's lives, support families, and inform public policy. Since its inception FPG has recognized that every child deserves a safe, healthy, and stimulating childhood; and our work has been dedicated to making this experience a reality for all children. For 50 years, FPG research, evaluation, technical assistance, outreach, and service have shaped how the nation cares for and educates young children.
